María José Fernández Vicente is a Lecturer in Contemporary Spanish History at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (Brest, France). She obtained her Ph.D from the University of Paris 7. She specialises in Spanish immigration policy during the 20th century. She authored Émigrer sous Franco. Politiques publiques et stratégies individuelles dans l'émigration espagnole vers l'Argentine et vers la France, 1945-1965 (2005) and co-authored Historia del Instituto Español de Emigración. La política migratoria exterior de España y el IEE del Franquismo a la Transición (2009).
